Nothing says WINTER like a nice cold cup of cocoa. For you Mom's out there who are still using Hershey's Chocolate Syrup, please note the very FIRST ingredient listed: High Fructose Corn Syrup - a very dangerous ingredient.
I'm going to do what I do best, and that is to paraphrase the details: High Fructose Corn Syrup goes STRAIGHT into your blood stream because it requires no digestion. It interferes with a hormone called Leptin which is the hormone that your body has of signalling you when you're full. It prompts you to keep eating. It is extracted from corn stalks through A chemical process and is a biochemical compound that is sweeter and cheaper than sugar. The fructose molecules go straight to your liver, producing fat-like triglycerides and bad cholesterol, leading to a major cause of liver damage - FATTY LIVER - which affects more than 70 million people in the US. It triggers HUGE spikes in insulin, causes increased metabolic disturbances, increases your appetite, causes weight GAIN, Diabetes, Cancer, Dementia, in addition to leaky gut and inflammation.
So what are your alternatives?
If you have about 10 minutes to spare - you can whip up your own!
